Overview

This is an advanced certificate in Quebec Immigration Law to be delivered to anyone wanting more in-depth knowledge about the Quebec Immigration system.

The intent of the advanced certificate in Quebec Immigration Law is to provide a history of Quebec Immigration; the Canada-Quebec Accord; the ability of Quebec to select foreign nationals for temporary and permanent entry to Quebec; the unique role of the Ministere de l’Immigration, de la Diversite et de l’Inclusion (MIDI); an overview and analysis of Quebec Immigration pursuant to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR), the Quebec Immigration Act(QIA), and Quebec Immigration Regulations (QIR); a review of the relevant forms and case law.

Course Prerequisites

None, however, this certificate is designed for Lawyers and paralegals who are members in good standing with a Canadian provincial or territorial law society; Notaries who are members in good standing with the Chambre des notaires du Québec; and Citizenship or immigration consultants who are members in good standing with the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council.

Topics/Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to provide:

  1. A thorough advanced analysis of the relevant sections of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR) and policies that relate to the processing of foreign nationals seeking temporary or permanent entry to Quebec;
  2. A thorough advanced analysis of the Canada-Quebec Accord (CQA), the Quebec Immigration Act(QIA), and the Quebec Immigration Regulations(QIR) that relate to the processing of foreign nationals seeking temporary or permanent entry to Quebec;
  3. A review of the relevant forms and case law in relation to Quebec Immigration;
  4. Certificates of Acceptance (CAQs) and Certificates of Selection(CSQs); and
  5. The appeal mechanisms available for Quebec Immigration matters (temporary and permanent).

The Diagnostic Test ensures that your computer and network connections are verified.

Adobe Connect mobile app is only available on Android devices and iOS. Recorded sessions are not accessible via the mobile device app, so students will need to use a desktop/laptop to view the recorded sessions.

This course does not require approval by the Private Training Institutions Branch of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training. As such, it was not reviewed.
